Origin |
The saw mill had its origin in 2005, when Mr. Gibson bought it from a late friend’s estate in Calvinia. The first log was sawn on 9 February 2005, 14:45 pm and the saw mill was officially opened by minister Cobus Dowry, the MP of Agriculture at the time being. |

Growth |
The main objective initially was to supply only the Howbill group of pallets and bins. However, with the enhancement of plant and machinery, as well as the skills level, production was increased and the objective was extended to clients throughout the Western and Northern Cape and Namibia. |

Expansions |
Howbill Timbers celebrates its fifth anniversary this year and has a lot of potential for growth. Mechanization is high priority in order to keep costs low and prices competitive.
The production of by-products such as bins, bin repairs and pallet repairs was started two years ago. We are also in the process of establishing a pole plant for the near future.
