About Us

Origin
The saw mill had its origin in 2005, when Mr. Gibson bought it from a late friend’s estate in Calvinia. The first log was sawn on 9 February 2005, 14:45 pm and the saw mill was officially opened by minister Cobus Dowry, the MP of Agriculture at the time being.

Growth
The main objective initially was to supply only the Howbill group of pallets and bins. However, with the enhancement of plant and machinery, as well as the skills level, production was increased and the objective was extended to clients throughout the Western and Northern Cape and Namibia.

Expansions
Howbill Timbers celebrates its fifth anniversary this year and has a lot of potential for growth. Mechanization is high priority in order to keep costs low and prices competitive. The production of by-products such as bins, bin repairs and pallet repairs was started two years ago. We are also in the process of establishing a pole plant for the near future.

Commitment
Our workforce is well represented by our diverse population, and we are BEE accredited. Our products are of high quality and our pallets comply with PPECB standards. Howbill Timbers believes that with a committed workforce, quality products are produced and delivered to our customers.
